What: The McLean Crew Club’s annual Ergathon is a fundraiser that is held in front of area businesses, including CVS and Balducci’s, and around downtown McLean. Ergathon is like a dance marathon on ergs (rowing machines). Athletes row 30-minute shifts in front of businesses for cash donations from the public. Throughout the four-hour Ergathon, there will always be athletes on the ergs rowing. Each athlete is assigned a 30-minute shift to row and a 3.5 hour shift to collect donations.
The Ergathon is one of our biggest fundraisers of the year, and the funds collected from it are critical to our club operations.
When: Donations can be submitted now (before the Ergathon) as well as on the day of the Ergathon, Saturday, January 24¸2026, 9:00 am – 1:00 pm

ABOUT MCLEAN CREW CLUB
McLean Crew Club will be celebrating its 30th anniversary this spring season. The club promotes and operates the rowing program at McLean High School and annually enrolls about 75 student athletes. The team is recognized for top-quality coaching staff, dedicated athletes, and success, winning many medals over the years. McLean Crew has produced athletes who moved on to compete in national championships, world championships, and the Olympic games. Students who participate in crew learn critical life lessons such as hard work, endurance, grit, teamwork, and commitment. Crew challenges minds and bodies in extraordinary ways, grows confidence, and supports physical and mental wellbeing.

Crew is considered a high school varsity club sport but receives NO funding from the state, county, or Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS). As a result, the financial obligations for insurance, boats, equipment, regattas, coaching fees, rent, uniforms, and transportation to/from regattas and training venues fall to the athletes’ families. Your financial support improves accessibility to and participation in the sport by keeping dues affordable for athletes’ families. We greatly appreciate your support in keeping the team “winning on the water”!
