TBC Tussle and Regatta Volunteer Opportunity
McLean Crew Club -
Good news, the water conditions have allowed TBC to let the launches back to the docks, and if the wind conditions stay low we should be able to get back on the water tomorrow (fingers crossed - still look for a mid-day decision).
TBC Tussle - Saturday April 21st
Plans are moving forward for the TBC Tussle. Our coaches have been working hard with NCS/St.Albans to provide more realistic regatta experience, with multiple races to a final, bouys and a starting dock. This is good news as it providing our teams experience working with stakeboat holders - but that means we need to provide 3 volunteers to help on the starting dock (flag holders and/or stakeboat holders)
If you are interested:
please email mcleancrewclub@gmail.com AND Elisabeth Morse at elisabeth_morse@yahoo.com
report to TBC at 6:45 for further instructions
do not wear red - leave your support for MCC on the land (can be confused with referee flags)
although it will not be as formals as a VASRA regatta you review the job description for Stakeboat Holder of Flag Holder (though this will be at the start not finish) on our Regatta Volunteer page
We are also looking for someone to be a social media guru to report the results. - one for boys and one for girls. You would stay on land and post live updates to racing on Facebook and Twitter. The coaches would give you the info after each race. We have MCC accounts for both Facebook and Twitter for you to use. If you have experience using these plantforms and are available this weekend, please email mcleancrewclub@gmail.com. Thanks.
Schedule
The coaches will let the specific boats know when to arrive, but basically coxswains and most boats at 6:45am, while 2V girls at 8:00 - but confirm with coaches. First race at 8:00. Please see the attached Race Schedule (aka "Heat sheet"). Racing should conclude just before noon.
Food Tent
Our food tent will be set up in the grassy area between TBC and Sequoia/Waterfront - come visit before, between or after racing. Thanks for filling in the Sign-Up Genius - although there are a few more openings available (coffee, chocolate milk, plus burrito making 1/2 credit) The best race viewing will be further north, beyond Georgetown Waterfront through the Georgetown Waterfront Park (see attached picture).
