Ergathon Update -Parents

Greetings from your intrepid and cold Ergathon Coordinators!!

So, the good news is this: the chances of these ridiculous polar temps still being around for Ergathon on 20JAN are pretty slim. Really. I checked with the weatherman. And we all know the weather forecasters are infallible….right???? Beuller?? Anyone?? Beuller??

A quick update:

FUNDRAISING – make sure you are working toward your overall goal of raising $300 per rower this winter. You can collect cash and checks, or they can go to the online donation page.

ONLINE FUNDRAISING – Send your out of town family the link to the donation page :

***IF YOU WANT CREDIT FOR THE ONLINE DONATIONS then you must have them use the “row for the red” Erg-a-thon Donation item for the donation (at the above link). Tell them to make sure they specify the rower name at checkout. No name on the donation = no credit for you ☹

SHOW ME THE MONEY – Turn in your envelope at a practice during 16-19JAN. ***Specify on your donation form if you are expecting to receive credit for online inations.*** I am happy to coordinate other turn-in arrangements outside of 16-19JANif needed – just email, text or call me. IF YOU DO NOT TURN IN YOUR FUNDS, THEN YOU WILL NOT ROW AT ERGATHON.


Ergathon takes the place of practice on the 20th.

Below/attached is the list of assigned times for each rower. You are either assigned to the 10-1200 shift or the 12-200 shift. During that time you will be rowing for 30-minutes and fundraising for 90-minutes.

CHECK-IN – Arrive early!!! You are responsible to be through the check-in line and ready to go at the beginning of your assigned slot. When you arrive on site, check-in at the table in front of Giant where you will be given a rowing time and a fundraising location.

THE RACE TO ROW TO PRINCETON – You will be assigned to a “bus” – either Red or Silver. The busses are in a race to Nationals at Princeton (275km). After you row your 30-minute slot, go back to the check-in table and report the distance you rowed. There will be a running tally kept. The first bus to accumulate 275km wins!

ROWER PRIZES – All of the team members for the first bus to row the distance to the Nationals will get a prize. Additionally, there will be 4 great prizes given to the varsity and novice, men and women who row the furthest.

IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO ATTEND DURING YOUR ASSIGNED TIME – you are responsible for finding someone from the other shift to swap with you. AFTER you have figured it out, then let me know via email at and make sure you CC the other rower with whom you swapped.

IF YOU ARE NOT GOING TO BE AT ERGATHON AT ALL – work it out with your coach and then send me an email to let me know that you are not attending. Be advised - your bus will not receive a replacement and will be disadvantaged in the competition.

PARENT VOLUNTEERING – all the parent slots are full! Thanks so much If you want to change based on your rowers assigned time, please feel free to handle that directly with other parents and just update the SUG. As long as you are not creating an unfilled hole in the schedule I do not need to know about it.
