Time to signup for Erg-a-thon

Greetings Rowers and Parents!!

The temps are down, the sky is getting grey, and the days are getting short. SO IT MUST BE TIME TO MOVE THE ERGS OUTSIDE FOR A SPELL ☺

Here is what you need to know:

  • Ergathon will be held on 1/20 in the Giant shopping center.

  • There is no rain-date. Ergathon will happen regardless of weather conditions (barring a blizzard…)

  • Rowers will be assigned to one of two shifts: (10:00 – 12:00) or (12:00 – 2:00)

  • Rowers will spend 30-minutes rowing and 90-minutes fundraising

  • Parents will volunteer for one of three roles: erg transport (2-ways), AM supervision, PM supervision

  • Signup Genius link: www.SignUpGenius.com/go/409084BAFAA23A6F58-2018

  • Rowers will be onsite for 2-hours

  • During the 2-hours, each athlete will be assigned a 30-minute rowing slot

  • Goal is max distance during your 30-minute slot

  • Rowers will be assigned to one of 2 competitive groups (Red or Silver)

  • Total distance rowed by all athletes in each group will be tracked

  • First group to row the total distance to SRAA Nationals will get an awesome incentive/prize

  • 4 individual athletes will be recognized for most distance rowed in their class – Varsity Men, Varsity Women, Novice Men, Novice Women

  • As a member of MCC we each agreed to raise a net-profit of $300 during the winter. These funds are a combination of tree and paw-thaw sales, plus ergathon donations.

  • Ergathon donations are 100% profit to MCC (and thus 100% credit toward your $300 commitment)

  • If you want to know how much is remaining on your commitment, email me directly at brett.korade@penfedrealty.com

  • Donation/Pledge form is attached for your use

  • Directions are on the attached donation/pledge form

FUNDRAISING DIRECTIONS (These are also on the form, repeated here for emphasis)

  • Record donation information on the form. Use additional forms if you need more space.

  • Turn in all donations in a regular envelope with your name on the outside.

  • Turn in envelopes at practice between 1/15 – 1/19

  • Inside the envelope should be all donations and the donation form(s).

  • It is preferable to condense all cash into a single check. For example, if five different people gave you $20 each, write their information on five different lines above. Then, before turning in your envelope with this form inside, have your parent write a check for $100 to “McLean Crew Club” and exchange it for the cash.

  • Rowers: Turn in the funds you raise AT PRACTICE during the week before ergathon

  • Parents: Sign-up for a volunteer slot

  • Everyone: HAVE FUN!!

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

Your willing Ergathon Coordinators
