We hope you had wonderful summers and that your start to the 2017-2018 school year has been smooth. Your coaches and board have been hard at work preparing for the upcoming season.

Car Washes
Let’s get a jump on our team fundraising – we have 2 car washes scheduled:
Saturday Sept 23rd at the Old Firehouse and,
Saturday October 14th at the BP.
See all the details and SIGN-UP to help. All Rowers should sign up for a shift at both car washes and Parents you can get a start on your Additional Volunteer Credits.
Boat Naming Ceremony
THIS Saturday September 16th 4:00 @ TBC (after TBC Open House). You should have received an invitation last week to attend this special event to reveal our newly-namedboats, the Bobby Meeks and the Mike Zook. Former Coach Bobby will be in attendance along with Mike Zook’s wife. Please see all the details and RSVP today!
As we prepared the Season Overview for new rowers, we thought returning rowers might appreciate a condensed, printable summary of the upcoming season. As always, things are subject to change, and the regatta schedule is still being finalized, but here are some key dates:
Open Volunteer Positions
Want to knock out your Additional Volunteer Credits early? Please review our list of open Operational Volunteer Positions and lend your time and talent! Some key volunteers openings:
Spring Break Lead – coordinate activities for local spring break “camp”
Erg-a-Thon Coordinator – plan and execute this winter fundraising event
Mulch Committee – serve in a key role with Mulch Coordinator to execute largest fundraising event. Looking for key volunteer leads: Sales, Procurement and Mulch Food Tent
Regatta Food Tent coordinator – work with experienced Foot Tent Coordinator to organize and man the beloved foot tent during our local regattas
VASRA LOC Volunteer – Are you an early riser that likes to get to the local regattas at 7:00 to score a key parking space,and/or to bring your coxswain? Earn 3 Extra Volunteer Credits by serving this important club role with VASRA at the lightweight weigh-ins.
Alumni Outreach – It is the 20th Anniversary of McLean Crew Club and we have lead alumni reaching out to create a reunion event at the Charlie Butt Regatta in Georgetown on April 28th – sound like an event you’d like to lead?
Executive Vice President - We are also looking to fill this vacant Board position to: oversee the administrative activities of MCC; oversee documentation requirements to operate MCC in accordance with all governing regulations; maintain membership records (roster); photography coordinator; oversee/sponsor the Uniform Committee; perform other functions as assigned by the President.

Do you know of interested students who might like to row with us this year?
We held a Student Interest meeting today afterschool, with over 50 in attendance. The parent interest meeting is Wednesday at 7:00in the MHS Lecture hall. The website has all the information about Learn-to-Row sessions starting soon (9/23 and 9/26) and upcomingSwim Tests (9/17 & 9/24). Please share with any potentially interested families.
